Our own government is gunning down innocent people in broad daylight. Alex Pretti and Renée Good in Minneapolis, Keith Porter Jr. in Los Angeles, Silverio Villegas Gonzales in Chicago, and many, many more in ICE custody, where we don’t have videos of what happened.
And yet, in utter defiance of this hellish nightmare, normal people are standing up for good together and taking heroic collective action.
Minnesotans are showing us: connection is the way forward.
A measly 3,000 ICE agents are no match for the 428,000 residents of Minneapolis, when they stand together. And that is exactly what they are doing. Over and over, ICE is being out-organized, outsmarted, and outnumbered.
With whistles, with music, with yelling – with hyperlocal rapid response networks – and with massive, relentless, peaceful protest, people are standing up for their neighbors. Defending their communities. Protecting people of every race and religion and sexual orientation. What is more American than that?
And look what happens! Greg Bovino demoted. Trump forced to call Gov. Walz and Mayor Frey. And today, Democrats found their spine and refused to vote for any budget bill that funds ICE.
It is up to us, all of us, and every single person we can activate, to build on this momentum. If we do the work, in nine short months we can take back the House and the Senate, and check the madness of this malignant regime. Help Field Team 6 register the Democrats who will make this happen.
