No one was surprised when Donald Trump started the longest State of the Union address in US history with a flagrant, ridiculous lie. “This is the golden age of America...after just one year, I can say with dignity and pride that we have achieved a...turnaround for the ages.”
Well.
There are masked, unaccountable government agents terrorizing people on the streets. Most people find it too expensive to just get by – everything from housing to healthcare to groceries costs too much for working class Americans.
The Constitution is under constant assault by this administration.
But even as he spoke, as this human kidney stone preened in the spotlight, America was doing its best to get rid of him. The real story last night was that Democrats won three more special elections, protecting State House majorities in Pennsylvania and Maine.
It has never been more important to register Democrats and progressive independents. This November, we have a chance to take back the House and the Senate, so that when Trump tries to call Democrats “crazy people” and “evil,” he’ll have to say that to a majority who can hold him and his administration to account.
We’ve been in that fight every single day for seven years, and we can’t stop now.
We need to flip three seats to take back the House. Let’s flip 30.
They say the Senate is out of reach. Let’s prove them wrong.
