With Mike Johnson finally swearing in Democrat Adelita Grijalva, we are witnessing the implosion of our Pedo-in-Chief. What a perfect time to build power on our side! But before we move on, we need to talk about last Sunday: the day Senate Democrats lost their unity, surrendered to MAGA terrorists, betrayed all our demands, and ended the shutdown in return for nothing.
If you are feeling righteous wrath at the cowardice of eight Democratic senators and the leadership vacuum named Chuck Schumer, this wrath is real, it is valid, it is shared by millions of Democrats, millions in the national Resistance, and millions of non-Democrats who took a chance in this election and voted for a Democrat for the first time. We ignore this wrath at our own peril. It is crucially important that at this moment, we do not try to spin it, justify it, or just “get over it.”
Because this righteous wrath is the rocket fuel that can propel real change. We need to honor this wrath by acting on it. We cannot get where we need to go with the current leadership. You do not beat fascism with a Chamberlain. You need a Churchill to do that.
And so the Democratic Party needs to be reborn. That process has already begun – with the election of Mikie Sherrill in NJ, Abigail Spanberger in VA, Zohran Mamdani in NY, the passage of Prop 50 in CA, and so much more!! – but it needs us to vigorously help it along. We applaud Indivisible’s pledge to support only Senate candidates who vow to call for new leadership, as well as Indivisible’s vow to support whoever the people of each state choose as their Democratic candidate in each primary.
Field Team 6 is uniquely positioned to help midwife this rebirth of democracy. As the national leader in partisan voter registration, our volunteers are the ones recruiting the new voters across the country who will transform, strengthen, and rejuvenate our party, electing new leaders who have the courage to actually lead.
The fact is the Democrats just had the best election in a decade, in a so-called “off-off-year,” and they owe that to you, the grassroots! So let’s keep modeling the strength, the courage, the spine we need to see in our leaders. Let’s keep volunteering and donating to register the new voters who will remake our party! And let’s keep channeling our passion into the actions that will save the world!
